So as you all know I love to support local and started a segment where we could share, learn and inspire! It is so important to support local and share your findings with others.

During lock down, we are going to do a whole lot of these to highlight these businesses – many of which are taking HUGE strain during this time – and shed some awareness and love to all.

When I saw these gorgeous pajamas, I just knew I had to share with you! Made in ethical factories with exceptional quality, please can I introduce you to Sophie Lewis. Sophie Lewis is a brand of pajamas and lounge wear and you can thank me later for this introduction! Their business is only a few weeks old but is already taking the retail world by storm with their gorgeous pieces and check out the fabrics! Absolutely stunning.

Please check out their Instagram page and give them a follow! As a brand new business, they need some love and shares. Remember, we need to support local and look after our small businesses. Local is lekker after all!

We chatted to Nikita, founder of Sophie Lewis about her business and she had this to say!

You have just started a brand new business –  Tell us about it and what products you will be selling?

I just started on the first of June. I am selling pajamas and lounge wear. I love love looking good and feeling good even while working from home and that inspired to get started.

What are the top 3 learnings you have had to find out the hard way since starting your own businesses – I know it’s early days but perhaps some insights?

I have learned to trust my self and my decisions and not to second guess myself when it’s time to act. Speaking to so many people everyday has taught me to be more patient and open minded. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is to take care of myself and have a schedule because I burned out very quickly from wanting to do everything all at once.

Where do you see your businesses in 5 years?

In the next 5 years, I see my self expanding my business and creating employment; for women especially. I hope to make impact in my own community by mentoring young aspiring entrepreneurs. I am working towards having two collections each year; Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter to keep things new and exciting.

What is your advice to individuals out there wanting to start their own businesses but are too scared?

Start now. Start with what you have. The road appears as you begin to take steps.

How has lock down affected you?

The beginning was really tough and I had to work through all the changes to get to a healthy mental space.  I’ve definitely missed the simple things like going to an art gallery on a Saturday or having a picnic on Sunday. I’ve been reading a lot and using my spare time to self improve and really just take it a day at a time.

Thank you to the lovely Nikita for sharing her business and thoughts with us! Please don’t forget to give her a follow on Instagram. Working from home means day time and night time pajamas are an essential! I know they are in my home, hehehe 🙂 x
