So as you all know I love to support local and started a segment where we could share, learn and inspire!
During this crazy COVID time, businesses are taking HUGE strain so it is important to showcase and share local finds – and this is a special one! I discovered Brenna Lou on Instagram and was instantly in awe of their stunning pieces! They design beautifully delicate gemstone jewellery. They work in white, rose and yellow gold , depending on your requirements.
Their website will have you sitting for hours, drooling over every beautiful piece – I certainly did! I love the beautiful colours of the gemstones that Brenna Lou match and combine to create statement pieces that will have the compliments flowing. Their elegant pieces are unique and I definitely have my eye on a few pieces for one day <3
Their gemstones are ethical, responsibly mined and fully traceable. They offer a wide range of gemstones including aquamarine, garnet, amethyst, tourmaline, moonstone, tanzanite, citrine, zircon, peridot and topaz. Everything your heart could desire! Looking for a custom piece? Not a problem, Brenna Lou are here to hold your hand and customize your dream piece.
We chatted to the lovely Kerry from Brenna Lou and she had this to say to us!
How does it feel to be a #girlboss that inspires others and loves what she does?
I am, what you would call, a philocalist – a lover of beauty as well as a strong believer in choosing and creating opportunity.
To be able to love what you do creates beauty in and of itself. If I could inspire all women – young, middle-aged and mature – to see with new eyes, to respond to the beauty that daily surrounds us, that, for me, would be achieving a difference. To inspire woman to believe in their inherent abilities and themselves, that they are able to do whatever they put their mind to – that would delight me!
I am inspired by beauty, all beauty. I see beauty in most things. From the setting of the sun on a summer’s day to the tiny perfect fingers of a newborn; from the laughter of a child to the holding hands of the aged. From the magnificent to the unseen – we are surrounded by beauty…if we will take the time to look for it.
What are the top 3 learnings you have had to find out the hard way since starting your own business?
That reinvestment into your business is key for sustainable growth.
Do as much as you can yourself and look for market partners that have the same heart as you.
Don’t be afraid to ask, ask and re-ask questions to those who know better.
What is your advice to potential entrepreneurs out there wanting to start their own businesses but are too scared?
Just start! It doesn’t matter what you don’t have, use what you do have.
There is a lovely saying my hubby always quotes “Start where you are, use what you’ve got, and do what you can.” That basically sums it up.
Tell us 2 things that are the BEST part about owning your own business and make it all worthwhile?
Getting your first sale! It’s that “wow” moment of “I actually did it”!
Secondly, I have had the privilege of working with some really generous entrepreneurs who have given so freely of their time, wisdom and advise.
Meeting these new people, have made the trip all the more worthwhile.
