I am not a hiker. Not one bit. But we decided to try something new and I really surprised myself by enjoying it! Being quite worried that I wouldn’t survive the 10km one, we have done the 2.5km and 5km in preparation for the 10km. They are really manageable, a fun outing with friends and so lovely being out and about, away from the hustle and bustle of crazy Joburg.
The Hennops Trails are located 30km from Pretoria and Fourways on Road R511 towards Hartbeespoort Dam. There are currently road works so there will be some stop and go’s happening – so include that into your travel time.

The area is beautiful and unspoilt, with the beautiful Hennops river flowing through the valley. There is bird song, the sound of the water and that’s about it! You will feel like you are a million miles away from civilization.

They offer the following:

Krokodilberg trail (10km)
Zebra trail (5km)
Dassie trail (2,5km)
Mountain Bike Trail: 5km/18km – 26km
Hennops Offroad trail / Klipdrift trail

Please remember, they only take cash for your entrance fee so make sure you bring with you. You can buy water, cool drinks, coffee etc at the entrance. R70 per adult and R40 per child.

Please remember to stay hydrated, bring a cap/hat and sunblock.

As a day visitor, no booking required and there is loads of parking available. They will present you with a map and explain the route etc to you if you need some help.

Gates open at 07h00 on Sat, Sun and Public Holidays, so get there early and take advantage of the tranquil settings.
