India was never on our list.

Not on the A list. The B list. Or even the C list.

And then we saw a crazy special from OnTheGo and we thought, what the heck, let’s do it! What I can tell you, is that what everyone says is true – you don’t come back from India untouched. What a beautiful country – we really enjoyed every minute of our 10 days there and would recommend it for so many reasons.

We aren’t big tour people, we prefer to build and book our own trips but this really was an amazing tour, with like-minded people who made it all the more special. We made friends from different countries, and just clicked – it was like going away on holiday with your best mates.

Our trip started off in Delhi, where we took in the beautiful sights of the old and new Delhi, including Humayun’s Tomb, Jama Masjid and Gandhi’s crematorium Raj Ghat. We even took a Rickshaw ride through Delhi’s backstreets which was an eye opener! Then we went to Agra and saw the mind blowing Taj Mahal, and the beautiful Agra Fort. From there we went and stayed in Karauli, which felt like we were in the Marigold Hotel movie set! We stayed in a palace (!) and got to then experience “real” village life as we walked around the local village and photographed their everyday life and experiences. I was moved beyond belief. From there we went to Jaipur, and experienced watching them create their local handy crafts. Then it was back to Delhi and home.

This is just a post to share photos, I will do a much longer one, detailing day to day experiences but for now, look at these photos of mine and picture yourself on this adventure! I took hundreds of photos, and took days to narrow down to this selection.

This is not a sponsored post, but I can definitely say OnTheGo are a terrific tour company. We have travelled with them previously, through Egypt and will continue to use them for countries we would rather not book on our own, where we want the comfort of having a tour guide and an air conditioned bus!
