So as you all know I love to support local and started a segment where we could share, learn and inspire! It is so important to support local and share your findings with others.

During lock down, we are going to do a whole lot of these to highlight these businesses – many of which are taking HUGE strain during this time – and shed some awareness and love to all.

I was lucky enough to come across the most divine jewellery made here locally in South Africa, by business founder Nondwe Nyathi. The colours and textures of the leather and beads look just divine!

The lovely Nondwe had this to say about her business.

You opened your own business  –  How does it feel to be a business owner that loves what they do?

Being a business owner is quite challenging, especially with me I have to multi-task as I’m also a creative head of my company. At the moment I do everything myself, Designing, Production, Markets and Exhibitions – handing all my social media accounts myself. It’s hectic but I’m still coping because I really love what I do.

What are the top 3 learnings you have had to find out the hard way since starting your own business?

I had to learn to ask when I need help with something I don’t know within the business. Also learning to be out there even of  I have my own personal problems but to do it for the business. I also learnt that no man is an island, there is always someone out there who wants to assist and help which ever way.

Where do you see your business in 5 years?

My ultimate dream is to really be a well-known household brand and also be able to have an international platform for my business and make money while at it. And also create employment for our disadvantaged women in my location.

What is your advice to individuals out there wanting to start their own businesses but are too scared?

One should never be scared of what they don’t know. It’s always better to start than having to regret that you never did it.

Tell us 2 things that are the BEST part about owning your own business and make it all worth while?

Being my own boss, being self motivated and people looking up to me – that really humbles me! And also being recognized by people I don’t even know just because they own an Indwe piece. And the satisfaction that I get from my clients when they get what they asked for😁.

How has lock down affected you?

I want to cry so hard when I think of all the shows that I was go to do this year and were cancelled because of Covid-19. But I know it’s beyond our control. I depend on my business as a source of income. It’s been so hard for the past few months and it’s getting worse. But I’m hopeful that soon things will turn around and we will be ok.

Please check them out on Facebook and Instagram and give them a follow! They would appreciate the love and support.
