So as you all know I love to support local and started a segment where we could share, learn and inspire! It is so important to support local and share your findings with others.
During lock down, we are going to do a whole lot of these to highlight these businesses – many of which are taking HUGE strain during this time – and shed some awareness and love to all.
Today we are going to talk about Kate Sunley. The Kate Sunley brand exudes luxury and is synonymous with pampering yourself! We all need some pampering, and nothing is better than slipping into a beautiful hot bath with bath oils and bath bombs. Add some of their Rose Coconut Bath soak into the water and you are in heaven. We chatted to the lovely Kate, founder and owner of the business and she had this to say.
You started your own business – How does it feel to be a successful #girlboss that inspires others and loves what she does?
It feels really good to be pursuing something I really love and that feeds my soul.
Being able to create with no restrictions is the most freeing feeling of all, as anything is possible and you have the power to choose the direction of where you want to go.
What are the top 3 learnings you have had to find out the hard way since starting your own business?
1. The most essential is to follow your own instincts, as a creator of your own brand/products you know what you want it to be and you have the answers, so don’t rely on anyone else. Trust your gut.
2. Partner with really great people, and if they are not meeting your standards walk away and seek new partnerships, don’t compromise.
3. Don’t be afraid to speak up and know your value, everyone starts small and grows so stand in your own power.
Where do you see your business in 5 years? Once we have gotten over the effects of the lock down?
I see a really wonderful curated business that offers my clients bespoke beautiful products across the board in limited quantities, so that I maintain the creative innovative direction I seek. I can’t wait to partner with wonderful creatives and bring their brands or products to life on my platform.
What is your advice to women out there wanting to start their own businesses but are too scared?
Just start, sometimes we get caught up in the fear of “will it work out”?, which just holds us back, if you don’t try you will never know.
I truly believe, if you build a business on what you love, with quality, and attention to detail you will do well.
Tell us 2 things that are the BEST part about owning your own business and make it all worth while?
The freedom to be as creative and inspired as I can be and to build something I am truly proud of that others love and seek out.
Secondly, the interaction with wonderful individuals that come from different backgrounds and experience that cross your path in so many different ways. That is a blessing in itself.
