So as you all know I love to support local and started a segment where we could share, learn and inspire!

During this crazy COVID time,  businesses are taking HUGE strain so it is important to showcase and share local finds – and this is a special one! During COVID we have all spent more time at home – obviously – and this has highlighted to me how I need more cool decor bits and pieces in my home – as I am sick of what I have now! Any one feeling the same?

Enter KREET, who has the most stunning home decor pieces made from concrete – they are just divine! A personal favourite is the bear, he just looks so flipping cool! And the dogs – wow! I personally would place them on my verandah or on the lawn when we have guests as they just make such a statement!  My mother in law loves rabbits, so I was also very happy to see there are rabbits in the range too! Check out the range for yourself here on their website. These would make the perfect Christmas gifts for someone special.

Please give KREET a follow on their FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM pages, they would appreciate the love and support!

Let’s find out more about this lovely local business! I chatted to KREET and they had this to say to us.

Tell us a little bit about your business.

KREET was born from a genuine love of architecture, and after discovering the surprising versatility of concrete as an artistic medium, KREET came about from the innate desire to create something you can hold. More importantly, to make something with your hands.

What began as a hobby quickly became more, as demand for our products far outstripped initial expectations. Now, we’re a small team with big aspirations to bring refreshing, vibrant art into homes around South Africa – and beyond.

With simplicity in mind, the marriage of contemporary digital design with the timeless elegance of simple materials like concrete, is at the core of our products. There’s a lot of beauty in concrete, and the perfectly imperfect, and our pieces highlight this beauty with clean lines and whimsical characters.

This isn’t mass production, and you won’t find our products gracing the shelves of a superstore. Each piece is made with care, with the knowledge and hope that it’s going somewhere wonderful: home.

When you buy from KREET, you’re not just buying a piece of art. You’re supporting the local community, and helping further the vision of a sustainable venture that will provide much needed training and employment opportunities to the local South African economy.

All proceeds from the sale of our Gift Of The Givers collection are donated to help feed the hungry during the COVID-19 crisis in South Africa. Link here for this range.

Always think value based- pricing, never cost based pricing.

Cost of business is much higher than you think.

Where do you see your business in 5 years? Once we have gotten over the effects of COVID.

We would like to expand into functional and structural (architectural) creations.

What is your advice to individuals out there wanting to start their own businesses but are too scared?

Start with the bare minimum and iterate.

Keep it as simple as possible and add the bells and whistles later.

The only thing you need to start a business is a paying customer.

Everything else comes later.

Tell us 2 things that are the BEST part about owning your own business and make it all worth while?
