So as you all know I love to support local and started a #girlboss segment where we could share, learn and inspire!

During lock down, we are going to do a whole lot of these to highlight these businesses – many of which are taking HUGE strain during this time – and shed some awareness and love to all.

So I would like to introduce to you the most beautiful goodies, hand made with love in sunny Cape Town by Natasha Wood Jewellery. Her pieces are unique and unconventional (but stunning!)and she uses pieces of porcelain and wood in her designs, combined with silver to create these masterpieces.

Let’s see what Natasha had to say!

You started your own business – How does it feel to be a successful #girlboss that inspires others and loves what she does?

Yes I have my own business, I love what I do, I love being creative, having flexibility and being able to make my own decisions is the best!

What are the top 3 learnings you have had to find out the hard way since starting your own business?

I love the creative side of things but I am not the best when it comes to the admin, but the admin is just as important. You need to be disciplined and set aside time for the admin.

I haven’t always worked from home but I have since my daughter was born. It made sense so I could be there for her at the same time. Working from home has many benefits but it definitely has its challenges too. In busy times I often have to work in the evening to make up time.

I cannot do it all alone, I get overwhelmed doing it all, so I have definitely found things easier with a little help with the admin, casting, in busy times getting extra hands into the workshop too.

Where do you see your business in 5 years? Once we have gotten over the effects of the lock down.

I won’t lie this Lockdown and all the restrictions has been really hard for business! I am so thankful to those who have placed orders and are still patiently waiting for the go ahead to be able to use the couriers again so that they can get their new items.

In 5 years I hope that I will still be doing what I love to do, making beautiful jewellery!

I am going to concentrate on doing more online selling, for the moment it looks like this will be the way to go, who knows when we will be able to do big public festivals again?!

What is your advice to women out there wanting to start their own businesses but are too scared?

My advice to starting a business would be to have the finances because it can take a while to start earning profit, and to start small, get an online presence and start an online shop on Hello pretty for an example.

Tell us 2 things that are the BEST part about owning your own business and make it all worth while?

Being flexible and making your own decisions! if you are a mom you will know how important this is.

Being able to choose your own holidays 🙂
