So as you all know I love to support local and started a segment where we could share, learn and inspire! It is so important to support local and share your findings with others.
So recently I was #gifted the most divine products from Oudewerfskloof and then when I went and did some research, they not only produce world highly awarded olive oil but you can also go and stay on this gorgeous farm! Check out their accommodation here.
I think if i went to stay there, I would never leave! Stilbaai is just stunning and would make the perfect local holiday with family and friends.
We chatted to the owner of Oudewerfskloof, Hannes Brummer and learnt a little more about this beautiful farm and their products!
Tell us a little bit about your business.
My late wife and I fell in love with Stilbaai in early 2000 and got a small seaside cottage to spend holidays with family and loved ones. Being from farming stock, we swapped beach living for an olive farm in 2006, and this is where Oudewerfskloof found its origin.
From a small olive grove of a mere 1000 trees in 2006 we built the farm up to be what it is today, a thriving boutique olive farm with more than 15 000 trees!
We are situated near Stilbaai in an ideal Mediterranean environment on the banks of the Goukou River with limestone terroir, creating the best environment to produce perfect olive oil. Our record of sustainable quality and award-winning olive oils is a testament to this very unique terroir and climate!
What are the top 3 learnings you have had to find out the hard way since starting the business?

Olive trees need food, water, good pruning, medical care and, most of all, passion and love.

Go big or go home and live your dream!
Where do you see your business in 5 years? Once we have gotten over the effects of the lock down and covid.
I want our business to be a sustainable and a profit-generating entity with a focus on:
- Adding value to the life of every worker on our farm.
- Sustainable and predictable superior quality olive oil and table olives.
- Expanding our range of products to include a wider array of food products, as well as cosmetics.
- Attracting tourism to the farm by means of our top quality products and existing lodging as well as by establishing a deli and eatery on the farm.
