So as you all know I love to support local and started a segment where we could share, learn and inspire!

During this crazy COVID time, businesses are taking HUGE strain so it is important to showcase and share local finds – and this is a special one!

I discovered the lovely Peachy on Instagram and just knew I had to share! These baskets are not only beautiful, but they are very handy too! They are also handmade locally here in South Africa – so an added bonus to buying these beauties.

These baskets are made from ilila grass and come in multiple prints – so you can match with whatever you are wearing! They are 36cm in height so can carry all your necessary goodies – if you are heading to the beach, to the shops or out for a girls lunch.

We chatted to the lovely Mon and Ria, the girlbosses behind Peachy, and they had this to say to us!

Who is Peachy?

Peachy is a Durban based brand that was created by us – Monique and Ria Koumantarakis (mon&ria), sister-in-laws who were inspired to start the brand while holidaying in Greece in 2019.

The baskets are locally made here in KZN by Zulu women who support their families through their basketry.

We also source local fabrics and manufacture the finished product here in KZN.

Tell us about your bags!

Our bags are practical yet beautiful, and come in multiple prints to choose from, and suit any style.

The baskets are ideal for your daily shopping , beach days or going on a picnic!

They really are the perfect companion for every day usage.

Each fabric inner is removable and washable (see wash care label for more info) and you can even order a second inner with your original purchase so you can chop and change your bag look with your outfit or event.

The baskets retail for R795 each (excl. delivery), and we offer nationwide delivery to get your bag safely to you!

Future plans?

Our future looks exciting and bright! We are in the process of manufacturing our Peachy Pouch, which will compliment our current range of bags. They can be matched with your basket design to complete the look or bought separately.
