So as you all know I love to support local and started a segment where we could share, learn and inspire! It is so important to support local and share your findings with others.

So I have followed PrettyBelle on Instagram for quite some time and fell in love with Helene and her content.

Every video that I watched, made me feel inspired to try new things – wear tights or stockings with your summer dresses in winter, how to style your accessories, what local clothing to look out for, and she even managed to convert me into following Miladys as she always finds THE BEST items from there to show us!

Then she launched her own online and store and i was so excited, not only does Helene know what looks good on women across all sizes, she was now going to sell clothing with that in mind. perfection.

Check out all the divine clothing on their website and don’t forget to follow Helene’s own account – PrettyBelle on Instagram as well as the PrettyBelle shop Instagram page, aptly called Ek Love Jou Rokkie – and I promise you, you will love all the dresses! Both accounts would appreciate the love!

The online store sells kids clothing, as well as ladies clothing and accessories. I am really in love with a few of these pieces. Clothing you will find will be across dresses, jump suits, athletic wear, shorts, skirts, blouses, tops and shoes to start off with and I know this will continue to grow!

Please support this  clothing line, by our very special #girlboss Helene. We chatted to her and she had honest and reel feedback for us about being a mom, starting her own business and balancing it all!

THIS DRESS! I am totally and utterly in LOVE with it. R699 gets you this little slice of Heaven.

Tell us a little about yourself and your award winning fashion blog!

I’m just a Mom, balancing my love for fashion, controlling my shopaholic urges, trying to not lose my husband and loving the rollercoaster ride of raising kind humans! And I never leave the house without a swipe of red lipstick!

That’s me in a nutshell! 😉

PrettyBelle (my blog) just kind of happen without any kind of plan! I was breastfeeding Minki and since I can remember when I feel emotional, I write. So, I typed notes on my Iphone while breastfeeding. just random thoughts, posted some of it combined with my ootd (outfit of the day), got a great response and that was the start of PrettyBelle (The Blog).

I always loved fashion, dressing (up) is a creative outlet, a form of art if you will, but when I became a mother my body, my priorities, my lifestyle changed.

One day in the middle of yet another gruelling breastfeeding session I looked at my mom and asked: Will I ever feel like me again???

I was consumed with love for this little human, but I was missing ME. Helene. And that’s when I realised, I have to do something about it: I still have to make time for my passion. The things I love! For me, getting dressed is huge. It plays a major part in who I am/how I feel:

Dressing the right way can and will give you a major confidence boost. I always say to clients – I also have a mommy tummy, you just don’t see it, because I dress to hide it and flaunt my best parts. It’s basic styling tricks but trust me it can make the world of difference to how you look and feel – no sit ups required! 😊

I wanted to show myself (and other moms) that although motherhood changes everything you can still embrace it with style.

Yes, there’s no longer time for contouring and straightening your hair, but you can make a top-knot add a quirky bow, put on mascara, a swipe of lipstick and a stylish outfit and you are good to go!

And this dress is absolutely gorgeous too! Check out Pretty Belle on Instagram to see how Helene styles this dress! It looks divine on her.

Please tell us about your brand new clothing brand business and what products you are selling?

Oh my gosh! PrettyBelle Shop is a dream come true. As a qualified image consultant, I know which styles are most flattering for specific body shapes.

I am also staying on top of the trends, so I decided to finally bite the bullet and source clothing and accessories I would love and wear.

The idea is to “help” women who are too busy to browse (online or in the mall) by showcasing the very best SA has to offer.

It’s a curated collection of everything pretty and there’s always more than one way to wear everything in my shop (and if you follow me on Insta I love making short styling vids, showing how to style the same dress 3 ways ext)

The Online store is still in its baby shoes, but I cannot wait to expand even more! I want PrettyBelle Shop to be the place to go when you are in need of a stylish outfit.

Also working on something big, but all will be revealed soon… 😊

What are the top 3 learnings you have had to find out the hard way since starting your own businesses – I know it’s early days but perhaps some insights?

Oh my gosh! I’ve definitely paid some dues although it’s still early days.

The technical aspect was tricky, getting my website to function as a shop, loading products, payments ext… Sourcing amazing products that I love! The amount of time that goes into launching a shop/business!

I was eating, sleeping, dreaming PrettyBelle, consumed by this passion, so badly wanting to make it a reality. Obviously, I was also consumed by momguilt, trying to juggle starting a business and being a good Mom. There were times that I just wanted to give up, but here I am, still going strong!

But it’s a daily struggle to find a balance between momlife and building a business.

What is your advice to individuals out there wanting to start their own businesses but are too scared?

If it is your passion – just do it! It took me a long time to figure out what I want to do with my life (And I’m still not there), but know this:

  • Passion only gets you this far – you have to put in the work, the hours.
  • Also keep a clear head about finances. You need a solid business plan that makes sense because trust me in the beginning it seems like you are throwing money into an endless pit.
  • It is an uncertain, lonely road and there’s (unfortunately) no quick fix for success.
  • You must be resilient, get back up and try again.
  • Keep on trying (and learning) until you get It right! Oh, and be kind along the way!
