So as you all know I love to support local and started a segment where we could share, learn and inspire!

During this crazy COVID time,  businesses are taking HUGE strain so it is important to showcase and share local finds – and this is a special one! SoulSisters is a divine local brand that use designs/artwork from lovely local artists and produce t-shirts with the illustrations on them – all right here in SA. This is so special and definitely a #girlboss initiative to support.

Check out their website to place your online orders! And please give them all the love and follows on their Facebook page and their Instagram page.

We chatted to the lovely SoulSisters and they had this to say to us!

Tell us about your business and what products you are selling?

Soulsisters Tees is South African based woman’s Tshirt brand. Our Tee’s are high quality combed cotton and all tshirt designs are uniquely created for SoulSisters by various local artists.

We aim to support local small business and artists whilst promoting and empowering woman.

What are the top 3 learnings you have had to find out the hard way since starting your own businesses – I know it’s early days but perhaps some insights?

Stay authentic and true to yourself. If you try anything else it will be short lived.

It all adds up. Keep tabs on your expenses and make sound financial decisions. Call in the help of your financial friends. Don’t be shy to share or ask.

Trust your gut, find your market and don’t try and please everybody, it is impossible.

What is your advice to individuals out there wanting to start their own businesses but are too scared?

You are your only limitation on what you can do and achieve.

Find people in your industry you can trust and learn from them. People are much more willing to share experiences than you would think .

Find people who believe in you and support you as there will be many days that you question either yourself, your product or the reasons for starting the business. That’s when you call on them.
