So as you all know I love to support local and started a segment where we could share, learn and inspire! It is so important to support local and share your findings with others.

During lock down, we are going to do a whole lot of these to highlight these businesses – many of which are taking HUGE strain during this time – and shed some awareness and love to all.

So let me introduce you to Stoked! Stoked is a proudly South African premium brand of clothing and accessories that stretches across caps, clothing, bags and accessories. Born in George in the Western Cape, this brand is always up for adventures with you! Support small and local, as local is lekker. And wear your Stoked apparel with pride!

So check out there website for online orders! And don’t forget to give them a follow on Facebook and Instagram, they would appreciate the love!

We chatted to Jared Lotz, founder of Stoked and he had this to say to us!

You opened your own business – How does it feel to be a successful business owner that inspires others and loves what they do?

I couldn’t have said it any better than Tessa from Plasticity did –  having your own business is probably the most liberating feeling but in the same breath it challenges you like nothing else out there. Small business ownership has undoubtedly been the best decision I have made to date it’s pushed me beyond what I imagined I was capable of, I can’t advocate it enough. I encourage others to give it a go, trust me there’s never a dull moment 😉

What are the top 3 learnings you have had to find out the hard way since starting your own business?

Consistency is Key – this age old saying couldn’t have been anymore accurate
Good things don’t happen overnight and if something does it’s probably not a good thing – this ties in with lesson one most things don’t happen overnight but rather through consistent effort.
I learnt to be open to others and their ideas after we don’t know what we don’t know.

Where do you see your business in 5 years? Once we have gotten over the effects of the lock down.

Our mission statement says it best – We have a deep founded respect for the natural environment as mother nature is ultimately the number one provider of Stoke. Considering this we have made sustainability and authenticity central to our vision for Stoked going forward. We strive to share positivity through the creation of sustainable adventure ready goods that encourage those who support us to get out there, seek adventure and push their limits.

What is your advice to individuals out there wanting to start their own businesses but are too scared?

As a result of the pandemic loads of opportunity’s are going to present themselves and I could encourage someone enough to get started. We’re blessed with so many different platforms we can use to test ideas, give it a go your idea might be the next big thing!

Tell us 2 things that are the BEST part about owning your own business and make it all worth while?

The most fulfilling feeling for me perhaps is spotting one of our epic supporters wearing the brand around town, that feeling keeps me coming back for more. Other than that I love knowing that I’m building an asset of my own, that I hope will have a positive impact on the lives of others through job creation etc.

How has lock down affected you and your team?

In a strange turn of events lockdown was most likely the best thing that happened to us, the Stoked Folk (Our supporters) came through for us in numbers and we couldn’t be more grateful.
