So as you all know I love to support local!
During lock down, we are going to do a whole lot of these to highlight these businesses – many of which are taking HUGE strain during this time – and shed some awareness and love to all!
I discovered Sugar & Vice a few years ago, and have some of their pieces in my home and I love them! So thought it was definitely time to share this brand and #girlboss business with you all! Their ceramics are just cute and quirky, I love the mugs with the captions on them. They have plates, bowls, pot plant holders, butter dishes, art prints and greeting cards, platters, soap dishes, storage jars – and and and . The list goes on! SO. MUCH. CHOICE.
Let’s see what the amazing creative lady behind Sugar & Vice, Natalie, had to say about her business and brand.
You started your own business – How does it feel to be a successful #girlboss that inspires others and loves what she does?
Being an entrepreneur sounds so glamorous, doesn’t it? It is most of the time, well not quite glamourous but certainly rewarding. I love seeing customers enjoy the products that they purchased from Sugar & Vice and how it sparks joy in their lives.
What are the top 3 learnings you have had to find out the hard way since starting your own business?
The 3 things I wished I spent more time on when I started my own business: I should’ve spent more time on market research on the products I wanted to launch, that I started smaller and that I invested in professional photos sooner.
Where do you see your business in 5 years? Once we have gotten over the effects of the lock down.
I’m a soon to be mother of 2 and I would like to set up my business where it allows me to spend time with my kids and still work part time while loving what I do. I want to see a big ROI for minimal input, so I’m working on streamlining my business at the moment.
What is your advice to women out there wanting to start their own businesses but are too scared?
Confidence comes in knowledge and will create a groundwork for your success. If you do your market research and write your business plan you are off to a good start. You should be confident that your business idea will work before starting your business.
Tell us 2 things that are the BEST part about owning your own business and make it all worth while?
Flexi time: Your time is your own, which means you can start and finish work whenever you like. You’re likely to work far more than you would working for a boss, but choosing when you do that is a great benefit. This also means that you can work when you’re the most productive and not between the hours of so-and-so because somebody else decided that’s when you have to work.
Working remotely: When you’re the boss you also have the freedom to work wherever you like (depending on the nature of your business, of course). That could mean working in your PJs on the couch, at your favourite coffee shop or from a quiet spot in a park.
Check out and follow them on Instagram and Facebook. They would appreciate the love! And their online store will WOW you, so much choice!
