So as you all know I love to support local and started a segment where we could share, learn and inspire! It is so important to support local and share your findings with others.
During lock down, we are going to do a whole lot of these to highlight these businesses – many of which are taking HUGE strain during this time – and shed some awareness and love to all.
I love finding local business to share and this one is definitely unique and so, so stunning! The gift for someone who has everything? Absolutely! I found it 🙂 A personalized star map of a special occasion in your life. How amazing is this? Such a special way to honour a person or an event in your life. A special keepsake for the amazing people in your life!
We chatted to Written in the Stars and they had this to say!
You have just started a brand new business – Tell us about it and what products you will be selling?
Written in the Stars creates personalised star maps to commemorate a special occasion or moment in your life. Using astronomy software, we are able to recreate exactly what the night sky looked like at a certain location at a precise moment in time. The sky that you see in the print was the specific alignment of the stars at the location you were when your life changed forever. A truly beautiful, sentimental gift!
What are the top 3 learnings you have had to find out the hard way since starting your own businesses – I know it’s early days but perhaps some insights?
- One tends to fall in love with the idea of having your own business but when things get hard you fall out of love with the process. I truly believe that building a business is a test of your perseverance and commitment to your idea, and giving it everything you’ve got, even when there are a few hiccups along the way!
- Invest back into your business. It is so important to take a portion of profits and continually invest it back into the business to keep the momentum going, especially while you are establishing a brand.
- Celebrate the little achievements. Every small step you take helps build the foundation you need for your business to grow.
Where do you see your businesses in 5 years?
I would love to grow my business into a larger brand, providing beautiful, locally sourced homeware items.
What is your advice to individuals out there wanting to start their own businesses but are too scared?
Take the leap! I don’t think there will ever be a perfect time, but you will never know the potential of your business until you get going.
How has lock down affected you?
Lock down has had its positive and negative aspects as I am sure every business has experienced.
It has made sourcing of important items such as frames very difficult and lead times on printing have been much longer than usual.
It did however finally afford me the time to properly get my business up and running, improve on my systems and implement important marketing strategies.
